KDVR-A 16-year-old boy died after a car was shocked while riding an electric motorbike in Aurora late on Friday evening, when the Urra police said that the driver of the car took off after the accident.
The Aurora Police Administration said it had responded at 11:18 pm to a report about the accident in East Wesley Drive and South Denkirk Street, and that the teenager was initially aware and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
APD said the teenager “decreased quickly” in the hospital and that he died shortly after his arrival.
The police said that a preliminary investigation decided that the teenager was on an electric motorcycle walking north in the distinguished bicycle lane in East Wesley Drive approaching South Denkirk Street, when he was hit from the back by an unknown vehicle traveling in the same direction.
APD said that the car was launched from the area and is likely to travel north on South Denkirk Street towards East Giwel Street.
The police said there were no witnesses to the accident and no suspicious vehicle information is available at this time.
However, the residents told the police that they had heard a loud exhaust car to accelerate the scene of the accident at the same time as the accident occurred, according to APD.
APD said that the investigators are asking the residents in the East Wesley Drive and South Dunkric Street to check the door bell and other security cameras between 11:15 and 11:20 pm to find out if they had a video of a possible suspect.
Police said that investigations into the accident were active and continuous. Anyone who has information about the accident is required to contact the Denver Metro Crime Crime on the phone 720-913-7867.
