AUSTIN (KXAN) — The San Marcos Police Department said officers responded to multiple shootings Saturday night into Sunday morning. One of the shootings was fatal.
SMPD said the first shooting occurred downtown around 10 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the plaza near Kissing Alley.
Police said three victims were taken to hospital, and police confirmed one person had died.
SMPD said it is searching for two suspects in connection with the first shooting. Both were described as black men. One was last seen wearing a black jacket with white letters, dark pants and dark shoes, while the other suspect wore a black and light gray jacket, dark pants and a beanie.
Police said the suspect vehicle may have been a silver or gray four-door Audi A3.
As a result of the shooting, all bars in the square were asked to close their doors.
A second shooting occurred around 1:25 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Post Road, SMPD said.
“Investigators do not believe there is any connection between this incident and the previous shooting at the plaza,” SMPD said.
One of the shooting victims was taken to the hospital in a private car, according to police, and the suspect has not yet been identified.
